Check out my presentation entitled ERM Governance in a Digital World - A Transformative Case Study.
A big Thank You to ISACA for putting on another fantastic conference in Dublin, Ireland!
The session is for risk practitioners looking to either transform or implement an ERM Program that results in a high performing risk management organization that creates value. This session describes a transformative case study about a recent ERM Implementation. The subject of the case study is an ERM implementation project I architected and managed for an organization with a $293M annual operating budget.
Over the course of the session, I will present an overview of the ERM program, describe the Governance model that was developed, discuss challenges we encountered along the way and present solutions we implemented that transformed the organization’s risk management capabilities. The governance model is forward leaning and emphasizes activities to identify, monitor and manage emerging risk. The governance model also recognizes the need to be future-proof and adapt to the rapidly changing environment we are faced with today. A hallmark of the governance model is the ability to draw a clear distinction between risk that must be actively managed today and emerging risk that must be planned for in the future, especially speculative risk (aka opportunities). We will explore a number of best practices throughout the session including developing effective KRIs, rationalizing risk categories across different business units, establishing an effective risk culture and more.
